About me

Pretesto

Pretesto has two meanings.

It is a pretext. An excuse to show my creativity but also it can mean an idea that comes before writing, before putting it down in a susbtantial form. Something not yet fully defined nor formed. Something that still needs to be worked on. Something that will inevitably change because the final state is still far from perfect.

As all of us.

A few things we’re great at

I’m a content creator, whatever this means. I like to search archives and libraries. I like to find new data, new ideas, new photos. In these last 20 years since my PhD I’ve always kept my research going even if in a minor tone, all by myself. Because my research is all that is keeping me alive.

Academia

After graduating in foreign languages and literature with a final thesis on the history of Italian emigration to Belgium, I completed my PhD with a research on the media image of Italian immigrants in post-war Belgian mass media.

Articles

I have written numerous articles published in national scientific journals mainly on the topic of my PhD research

Photos

I’ve been taking photos since I was a teenager, when I developed my own photographs in the darkroom. Today I use a digital camera and cell phone to capture what my mind, my heart and my eyes see.
